Creating business cards in Adobe Photoshop

Creating business cards in Adobe Photoshop

Creating business cards in Adobe Photoshop is easy. This guide will walk you through the steps to get there.

First, after starting the Photoshop software, you can start a new document. To do this, click File in the upper left corner of the program and choose "New" from the menu.

This should bring you to the screen to set the specifications of your new document. Business cards are typically 3.5 inches wide and 2 inches high so that you can go with that. Just type in 3 in the width box and select inches from the drop down next to him down menu. Do the same for the height, except that you must type 2, then in inches inches as well by choosing from the drop down next to him down menu.

As for the resolution, choose 300 DPI if you will end up with a pretty clear document once everything is done.

Having leaders while working on your document card is recommended. You can use the rules by clicking on "view" and "Show Rulers." The rules are very useful in the implementation of guide lines to ensure that the elements of your business card is centered.

Once you have set up your document to display correctly, you can set on a non-printable or "guides" on your document online. You can create guide lines by clicking on the rules and dragging them where you want on your document.

You will need these guides work because you need to do for the next step in creating your card. In this case, we use as guides purge lines, which are the safe areas, printable available on your card as you place your interior design elements.

There are other types of "lines" that you should be aware of.

The cut lines serve the purpose of showing where your design will be cut from the larger sheet of paper on which it is printed on. Make cut lines ensures colors all the way to the limit of your card and, once it is cut, there will be no white space on the edge of the map.

Lines of other security, are what most intimate lines are called. Anything outside of these lines run the risk of being cut. Cutting machines can not be very precise so, staying within this area ensures that important text and / or graphics will not be cut. It also helps your map more readable during the design process. You'll want to keep all your text non-background, logos, images and other design elements within these lines.

To create these guides, you must first create the cut lines. Drag two lines of the top ruler and drag one of them to form a small margin on the top and a line of the same measurement on the bottom. After drag two lines from the rules on the left side and drag to form a small margin of the same size as those on the top and bottom. You should end up with a sort of framework.

To make security lines, repeat the same process and create the framework within cutting lines.

If you do not want to go through the lines if there are free downloadable templates on the Internet. Just download them and then open them in Photoshop.

After completing these lines or by downloading a template, you should be all set available for your graphics and the font on your card.

Once you put all the design elements on the card model, you need to flatten the image. This can be done by right clicking on "layers" and selecting "Flatten Image" from the menu.

Then open a new 8x11 document and paste images on the entire page. You can stick up to 8 images on the document. Make sure they have enough margin or space between the images ....
